The Students WIN program is an innovative approach to workforce development in partnership with our local school district. WIN stands for Workforce Internship Network. This exciting component of the BEA program further develops opportunities for students to take on non-paid internship and paid part-time positions with local businesses and companies. Through the Students WIN program, eligible high school students will go through the process of attending a career panel, participating in a mock interview, and develop a job-ready resume prior to being referred to a potential work site. The internships and part-time positions will give students hands-on experience to learn proper work etiquette and develop valuable skills that they can transfer to future careers. The Chamber is excited to partner with the Stockton Unified School District and its high schools to support our future workforce.
The program partners with many types of businesses requiring various skill levels. Job duties include skills building, industry-specific tasks, and general work experience and ethics. The combination of both hard skills and soft skills will enhance the student’s learning experience and development. Most students referred to the WIN program are involved in a career path through their school and are looking for an industry-related work experience opportunity.
Businesses can take advantage of this opportunity by providing skills training while getting some extra help either through paid part-time positions or unpaid internships. Opportunities will be available throughout the school year. It's a win-win for the community.
